Dedicated to specific wildlife cameras I have installed at home. Page content in each case may include text, images and video. This is a learning (fun) curve and changes will no doubt be made. As always, a date will be included where that may be significant. There will be some additional legacy content related to past efforts of this sort.
I am initially launching details of four cameras, as illustrated below. All are home-made habitats based loosely on popular designs. Three Bird boxes and one Hedgehog home.
Supported by IR lighting at night, each habitat includes a wildlife daylight LED lamp served by a miniature light sensor to improve image quality during daylight hours. Initially the three bird boxes are built with a 50mm hole which is then overlaid with a thin cover, bored with my preferred size hole. I am starting with 32mm entrance holes initially and will experiment over time.
All habitats are fitted with externally mounted connection boxes I have wired, so I can simply plug in a new cable quickly or easily remove a habitat for maintenance or adaptation. I am set up to capture video via a PC and all cameras are hard wired. I use software to interrupt my viewing if some new wildlife habitat activity occurs. The same software captures video automatically. I will not be live streaming video so changes will be infrequent and anything significant reported via the news page.
For the record there are now Wi-Fi options and smart phone applications supporting wildlife cameras. A search engine will quickly deliver details and that could include solar powered cameras. There are also cameras with a significant IP rating and therefore water resistant for exposed use. I prefer and only use 700 TVL cameras with Sony sensor. Newest images will be added to the top of pages in this section. |
