Also mentioned on the Woodland Trust website is the Witches' Broom which is on the same route 6 (East of Errwood) trail. Although obvious when seen, this is denoted on the route 6 map by a green dot. If this link fails please let me know: 07.02.2024 - The Woodland Trust have kindly confirmed these images do represent Witches' Broom.
 
I have this listed under Unclassified but I may be - almost certainly am - wrong. I am making some enquiries and may in due course need to cross link this under Fungi and/or elsewhere. I will also obtain some prettier images when spring returns.

The tree concerned was devoid of leaves but the carpet underneath was comprised entirely of these leaves. All surrounding (much smaller) trees - Silver Birch.
