Feature - Pond number 3 - MAIN |
|
This pond is old and was associated with the old railway. Barely visible from Goyt Lane and indeed the usual OS map (hence the map below), it is largely overgrown and close up resembles the everglades with the mass of timber and exposed roots. Largely fenced (dilapidated) and includes warning notices regarding unsafe ground, which is true but is also true of other areas in the Goyt not so fenced or signposted. Visitors advised to keep firmly on the margins and completely avoid what appears to be a grassed area to one side of the pond. At the time of writing (April 2023) I have not spent much time here in season but will be doing so this year. Very reminiscent of Pond Number 5 but there is plenty of water on the hidden side of the pond. Not been here for some years and need to make up for it. Directly opposite the small car parking scrape on Goyt Lane. |
